The Taranaki Health Foundation is entering a new chapter as it announces a transition in leadership. After four years as General Manager, Adrian Sole is stepping down, leaving behind a legacy of remarkable impact. Chairperson Brian Ropitini will also transition into a trustee role.
The Foundation welcomes Grant Carter as the new General Manager and Antony Rhodes as Chairperson, with Deborah Riley stepping into the Risk and Audit Officer role. Reflecting on his time as Chair, Brian Ropitini shared: “It has been a privilege to chair the Taranaki Health Foundation over the last four years. I'm proud of what we've achieved together and am excited to remain on the board to continue supporting the incredible team working to improve healthcare for our region.”
Adrian Sole's contribution to the Foundation spans more than a decade, beginning as a trustee in 2013, serving as Chair from 2016 to 2021, and then leading as General Manager. His leadership has been instrumental in elevating the Foundation's role in Taranaki. Adrian reflects: “It has been a true honour to lead such a fantastic team that's achieved so much. Over the past four years, we've raised over $9 million in pledged donations to enhance local healthcare for generations to come. That success is a testament to the commitment of our board, the team, our supporters, and the wider community.”
Under Adrian's guidance, the Foundation has played a vital role in supporting Project Maunga Stage 2, which includes major developments at Taranaki Base Hospital, such as the Taranaki Cancer Centre and the New East Wing Building. His strategic vision, passion, and ability to bring people together have transformed the Foundation and strengthened its ability to serve the region's health needs for generations to come.
Incoming chair Antony Rhodes has been with the Trust since 2018 and is looking forward to building on the legacy created by Brian, Adrian and all past and present trustees and staff, while keeping an eye on the long-term impact the Foundation can make for Taranaki.
“The Taranaki Health Foundation is a critical part of our community, and our focus remains on raising the money needed to extend the health facilities and services available in our region. The next 12 months are a significant period for the Trust as the New East Wing Building and new Taranaki Cancer Centre open, and we acknowledge the investment in both our community has, and continues to make,” Antony says.
New General Manager Grant Carter also shares confidence in the road ahead: “This is a seamless handover, and it's business as usual. We remain more committed than ever to supporting healthcare enhancements for our region, made possible only through the incredible generosity of the Taranaki businesses, community groups, and the public.”
The Foundation extends sincere thanks to Tasha Kupe, Administration Assistant, who is moving on after five years of dedicated service. Her support behind the scenes has been invaluable.
As the Foundation enters this new phase, it does so with deep gratitude for the unwavering service, commitment, and leadership of Adrian Sole, whose vision and dedication have helped shape a stronger, healthier future for Taranaki.
