Taranaki is a thriving region because of its dairy industry. Having healthy cows is vital to our farmers, and so providing them with the right nutrients and feeds for their stock is essential. BHL Feeds is a Taranaki family-owned business supplying Taranaki/Manawatu farmers with nutritional requirements including liquid and dry feeds. Their products produce great results for livestock, ensuring they have vitality in health, customised to the individual farm and stock conditions.
Not content with supporting the local dairy industry, BHL feeds are also very involved in supporting the wider local community. Nothing demonstrates this passion more than their donation of $250,000 to the Rapid Relief Team Intensive Care Unit (ICU), part of the New East Wing Building development at Taranaki Base Hospital.
Caring for the local community
BHL Feeds have been long-term supporters of the Rapid Relief Team and have provided support to them for many events. When they found out the Rapid Relief Team where investing in the new ICU for Taranaki, BHL feeds were more than happy to be on-board. "We recognise the importance of having a well-equipped state of the art base hospital that will serve the region well for many years to come" says Brett Mascull, BHL Feeds Managing Director.
Their donation of $250,000 is part of a fundraising drive by the Taranaki Health Foundation, to provide enhancements to local healthcare services that would normally be above and beyond standard Government funding. "It is a fact of life that there is a limited pot available for healthcare funding, and difficult decisions are made every day to decide how it is spent." says Adrian Sole, Taranaki Health Foundation General Manager. "Support from organisations like BHL Feeds mean we can provide Taranaki with the best and most comfortable healthcare possible".

The Taranki Health Foundation is fundraising for enhancements for the New East Wing Building, Taranaki Cancer Centre and Te Puna Wai Kātea Mental Health Rehabilitation facility. Enhancements such as upgraded and more efficient equipment, more comfortable chairs for recovery, and even down to the planting in the gardens around the Hospital. Adrian Sole says "Healthcare should be approached holistically, and the environment someone is treated in can have a profound effect on their recovery."
